Got Questions is a great resource for many articles regarding questions of faith and practice.
That said, while typically a reliable source, I would disagree with many elements of their articles that fall under their page “The Gifts of the Holy Spirit” due to their explicitly cessationist theological vantage point (believing that certain gifts of the Holy Spirit died with the apostles mentioned in the New Testament) as not reflecting reality today nor Scripture in certain respects. I say that as someone who doesn’t have any of the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit but who, like John Piper, who I greatly respect, believes that I don’t need to have any of those gifts to recognize that certain other people do, i.e.
- Heidi Baker has the spiritual gifts of miraculous healing, as one can see from the “Study of the therapeutic effects of proximal intercessory prayer (STEPP) on auditory and visual impairments in rural Mozambique” as published in the Southern Medical Journal as well as my wife’s own testimony after spending months with Heidi’s ministry in Mozambique).
- Pastor JR Gurley, a pastor at my church who has moved in the gifts, including preaching a full sermon in a language he did not know even 10 words of (Spanish) where he had a translator for one sermon and no translator for another, where another pastor got angry at him for “lying to him” that he didn’t know Spanish after he preached.
